Every year since the Half Moon has been open, they have done a collaboration brew with the club to celebrate National Homebrew Day in early May. John/Kyle will do the mash on a style we agree on, then we will fill our kettles and brew in their front yard. More info will be made available as it is organized.

It was suggested at the Feb. meeting that this year we could do an ale vs. lager challenge. A basic red was brought up as the wort with those who have temp controlled fermentation use a lager yeast. I would like to see different yeasts used i.e. dry, liquid & strain. Any other suggestions? Club buy the hops for the same hopping schedule, or let personal creativity rule? A different base wort?

Red seemed to keep the consensus at March meeting.
Second Saturday in May looks like probable date. May 14

Mike and I plan to do at least a 12 gallon batch and will be prepared to do more if there is extra wort.

It has been officially decided at this month's meeting that the beer du jour will be a red. The grain bill is as follows; Pale 74% Carapils 10% C-80 10% C-120 6% We had Northern Brewer hops donated to us from the Half Moon to use, post here if you want to use some. Also post here how much wort you will be needing.

Do you know what the gravity of the wort will be?

That's pre-boil? Or into the fermenter? I'm trying to figure my hopping rate.

Peter Kane here. I could brew 6.5gal, assuming you still would have a burner I could borrow.

So far it seems only about 5 or 6 brews will be happening. If you plan on attending, post here with the amount of wort you will be needing.
